ENHYPEN Hits No. 1 with "Bloody Paradise" — Revisit "Drunk-Dazed" and Learn It Free

If you've been anywhere near K-pop this month, you already know: ENHYPEN (엔하이픈) just landed their first-ever No. 1 on the Billboard 200. 🍷 And the wild part? It feels less like a finish line and more like they're just getting warmed up.

So this is the perfect moment to rewind to the track that kicked off their whole story — "Drunk-Dazed" — and use it to learn some genuinely useful Korean. Best of all, you can learn this exact song with us in a free live group class (details at the bottom 👇). Let's get into it.

🏆 First, the Big News: ENHYPEN Hit No. 1

Here's what's happening right now. ENHYPEN's eighth mini-album, THE SIN : BLISS, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (dated Sept. 5), earning around 98,000 equivalent album units in its first week. It's the group's first-ever chart-topper — the payoff after three straight No. 2 finishes with "Desire: Unleash," "Romance: Untold," and "The Sin: Vanish."

That's the story of ENHYPEN in a nutshell: climb, climb, climb, and finally — the top.

🩸 The Song Driving It All: "Bloody Paradise"

And they didn't stop at album sales. The engine behind this whole moment is the lead single, "Bloody Paradise" — a Brazilian phonk-flavored dance track that turns a couple's crisis into a blood-red paradise. It's loud, hypnotic, and built for the stage.

The results speak for themselves: "Bloody Paradise" swept all five major Korean music shows, handing ENHYPEN its biggest music-show haul ever. Member Jay's "긴긴 대로" (gin-gin dae-ro) part blew up on social media, sparking challenge after challenge and keeping the song trending long after release.

It's also part of a bigger wave — ENHYPEN, ATEEZ, KATSEYE and more have all leaned into Brazilian phonk lately, a sound that exploded through TikTok and pairs perfectly with K-pop's performance-first style.

If "Bloody Paradise" is what pulled you in, you're in luck — it comes from the same vampire universe as the song we're about to learn.

Not bad for a group that, back in 2020, made its debut on a stage with no audience at all.

🧛 The Vampire Saga That Started It All

To understand why "Drunk-Dazed" still matters, you have to know ENHYPEN's whole thing: vampires.

Since day one, ENHYPEN has built its music around a dark-fantasy, vampire-inspired world. From their debut through the "Blood," "Dark Blood," and now "The Sin" eras, they've told an ongoing story about temptation, transformation, and finding your identity — all wrapped in that seductive, slightly dangerous vampire imagery. Fans call the members "뱀자님들" (baem-ja-nim-deul) — a cute mashup of 뱀파이어 (vampire) and 왕자님 (prince), basically "vampire princes." 🦇

And "Drunk-Dazed" is where a huge part of that world clicked into place. Released in 2021 on the BORDER : CARNIVAL mini-album, it captures the chaotic, intoxicating rush of stepping into a strange new world — dizzy, overwhelmed, and unable to stop. The title says it all: drunk and dazed, spinning through a carnival you can't escape.

🎡 What "Drunk-Dazed" Is Really About

The song uses a carnival as a metaphor for that overwhelming, addictive feeling — lights too bright, sounds too loud, everything swirling. One of the most-quoted lines describes the world literally flipping upside down, feet in the sky, ears full of noise.

There's even a clever Korean-learning bonus buried in the concept. In the lyrics, that dizzy rush is described as 중독 (joong-dok) — "addiction." Fun fact: because EXO's classic "Overdose" also used 중독 as its central metaphor, many Korean students once mistakenly thought "overdose" was simply the English word for 중독. It's actually closer to "addiction" — a small but perfect example of how songs teach you words that don't translate one-to-one.

☁️ The Korean Hiding in the Lyrics

Here's where "Drunk-Dazed" turns out to be a sneaky-great Korean lesson. The verses are packed with body-part words you'll use constantly in real life. Look at this line:

하늘엔 내 발이 / 내 귓속에는 La la loud (ha-neu-ren nae ba-ri / nae gwit-so-ge-neun la la loud) — "My feet are up in the sky / and in my ears it's la la loud."

In just two lines you catch:

  • (bal) — foot
  • (gwi) — ear
  • (mok) — neck / throat

That last one shows up in one of the song's most dramatic lines:

그 끝엔 목이 타는 내 맘 (geu kkeu-ten mo-gi ta-neun nae mam) — "At the end of it, my throat burns."

목이 타 (mo-gi ta) literally means "my throat is burning" — but Koreans use it to mean "I'm so thirsty!" or "I'm desperate for something." So next time you're parched, you can say 목이 말라요 (mo-gi mal-la-yo) — "I'm thirsty" — or just 물 좀 주세요 (mul jom ju-se-yo) — "Can I have some water?" 💧
